Detention Pond Pumping – Urban Stormwater Control in Las Vegas, NV
| Stormwater Lift Station | |
STORMWATER PUMP STATION DETAILS While Las Vegas is known for its dry desert climate, Clark County Public Works officials can also tell you how hard it can rain there. Stormwater detention basins, like the one on Desert Inn Rd. receive runoff during storms then discharge to large underground storm drains after the weather clears. Due to topography, the 10-acre Desert Inn Detention Basin would not empty completely, creating a mosquito breeding hazard. The city’s consulting engineer determined that a pump station was the best solution. Romtec Utilities designed and supplied a complete detention pond pumping system with a 23 foot deep precast concrete wet well. Romtec worked with the pump system installation contractor and also provided pump station start-up and training services for Clark County operation and maintenance staff. Duty point of the duplex submersible pump station is 848 gpm @ 26.2 TDH. Click here to read about this project in Stormwater. Click here to read more in TechNotes newsletter.
