Industrial Process Pumping Stations with Duplex Submersible Pumps
| Industrial Lift Station | |
Romtec Utilities pumping systems collect and transfer process and stormwater at two natural gas-fired turbine “peaker” electrical generation stations of Basin Electric Power Cooperative in Groton, South Dakota. PROJECT DETAILS Two recently constructed electrical generating stations utilize General Electric LMS100 simple cycle gas turbines to produce electricity during periods of peak demand, supplementing larger base load generators. The stations feature Romtec Utilities pumping systems to collect and move process water and surface water to a holding tank and detention pond on the site. Each pump system includes a pre-cast concrete wet well, 6’ dia. x 13’ deep, with two ITT Flygt submersible pumps. Also included are is a preassembled valve vault and piping, plus pump lift station control panels that interface with the plant’s SCADA system. The industrial pumping systems transfer the plant’s cooling water and storm water to a holding tank or detention pond. The holding tank is the reservoir for the cooling system and must remain full, thus a level control device was placed in the tank to switch the pumped flow between the tank and the pond.
