ROSEBURG, ORE. – Romtec Utilities has expanded its product offerings to include high-quality fiberglass wet wells and valve vaults in its pre-engineered pump stations, in addition to the traditional pre-cast concrete structures. The fiberglass underground tanks are delivered to the job site fully assembled and ready for pipe and pump installation.
The one-piece fiberglass structures require no field assembly, and are ready to receive influent and discharge pipes, submersible or dry pit pumps, and liquid level sensing devices. Fiberglass vessels are available up to 12 feet diameter and 40 feet long, and can be shipped to any project location.
The tanks are available through a new partnership between Romtec Utilities and Xerxes Corp., a leading manufacturer of buried structures. “We are always looking for new and better products to benefit our customers,” says Mark Sheldon, vice president of marketing for Romtec Utilities, “and until Xerxes, fiberglass couldn’t compete structurally with concrete. In our view,
Xerxes’ quality was a dramatic step forward for fiberglass in the water and wastewater market.”
The fiberglass tanks are highly versatile; they can be oriented either vertically or horizontally, and fitted with a variety of pumps: submersible pumps, short set vertical turbine pumps and dry pit pumps in horizontal or vertical configuration. In addition, fiberglass is not degraded by the hydrogen sulfide gas present in sewage, and it will not break down from exposure to petrochemicals, acids or caustic fluids. No additional sealing or coating of the fiberglass surface is required.
